Wanna Learn How to Use Manual on Your DSLR Camera?

ceoMom 611, Bridget

First thing, switch it all over to manual...don't be scared! You will be glad you did!

Each week I will give you a lesson, take it or leave it as you may, but I can't go back to AutoFocus anymore!

Basic elements on all cameras are Light and Time

Light - controlled by aperture (f/stop)
Time - how long, controlled by shutter speed (SS)

Aperture ranges from 1.4, 2.0, 2.8, 4.0, 5.6, 8.0, 11.0, 16, 22
The larger the number, the smaller the aperture.

First lesson: Pick a subject outside
1. You cannot use light meter
2. Use the Sunny 16 Rule -- here's a link to study it:
http://digital-photography-school.com/moving-toward-manual-settings-understanding-basic-daylight-exposure-and-equivelant-exposure
3. Determine the light it is and choose accordingly.
4. Remember to keep track of your SS and f/stop
5. Come back and post your pic!

I have always wanted to try the manual option on my camera, but have been too scared. I often don't like the lighting and get frustrated with my camera, but never knew I could do it otherwise. I'm really excited by your tip! I'm going to try and I'll post my picture. Wish me luck!
