I read a study years ago that concluded any one person only has time for seven quality relationships. If you think about it, it takes time and energy to make a relationship or friendship work. You've got to call and see how they are doing, have lunch together, see a movie, get together to chat and remember their birthdays.
Your family members count in that equation too. A husband and three kids takes you down to three available spots. If you're close to your mom, you've got two spots left. Of course, the lucky number seven is just a guide, but it sure makes you think about who is in your life. And who you "choose" to have in your life.
With limited quality relationships on the line, choose people who uplift you and make you be the best you know you are. Those seven spots are valuable and special. Choose wisely and then give it your all.
