Mom Friendships

ceoMom 304, Carrie

I've long ago decided that it is IMPOSSIBLE to stay close to everyone you've ever loved or cared about in your life. Seasons of life change and, as your family grows, you find yourself more absorbed by them with less time for outside friendships.

I planned to stay close to my three best friends from high school my whole life and now we only communicate by Christmas card. It does make me sad, but I am still grateful for the influence they had in helping me become who I am. I don't have time to worry about it and hope that maybe we can renew our friendships someday. Right now my best friends are the ones I car pool with and run into at PTA meetings. It's kind of strange in a way -- but it is the season of life.

This is so true. It's really hard to stay in touch with everyone the way you want to, but you never know when a friendship might rekindle. For example, I have barely spoken with a great friend of mine for years now and all of a sudden, we're back on the same page and talking all the time. You can't be friends with everyone though. Sometimes you have to let some go and just appreciate the time you did have with them. Just be open to life and life will bring you the friends you need (and who need you) right now.
