Young children love to scream and shout and be loud. Think about it: Kids literally jump for joy and shout hooray when they get excited. This is just part of the fun of being a kid. They have not yet learned what is appropriate or expected of them. Some think this is a good thing. Kids grow up so fast and before you know it, they have been conditioned by society on what is appropriate and stop many of the fun things kids like to do -- including acting excited.
Others, and this is also understandable, have a difficult time when their kids are being very loud. If children continue to be loud it is because limits have not been set. In other words, the children are loud because they can be. One way to solve this is to establish indoor and outdoor rules. "Use your indoor voices" is a great way to communicate to your children that they are being too loud. Then when the children are at play outside, they can be as loud as they want to be.
If children are having fun being loud, see it as an expression of their youth. It's too bad we lose that excitement as we grow up and become reserved. Let them celebrate life as much as you can handle.
