Encouragment for New Stay at Home Mother

ceoMom 304, Carrie

Moving from the workforce to the home-front is a challenge. I remember with my first baby, I felt responsible to entertain her all day long. It made it nearly impossible to get anything done. Here are ideas that might help:

1. Get your baby on a sleeping schedule. You NEED times you can count on to get your own work done without juggling your baby. Absolutely let your baby learn to fall asleep on his own. Don't ever budge on nap times.

2. It is okay to give your baby some alone time. You don't have to entertain him 24/7. In fact, it is good for him to learn to play on his own.

3. This will get easier. You'll get better at it and your baby will grow. Right now your baby takes up at least three-fourths of your time and leaves maybe a quarter for doing the dishes and taking care of yourself. Plan ahead to carefully use that small quarter that you do have.

Raising a human being is no small feat! You may never feel as if you accomplish as much as you did as a successful businesswoman in a day, but you are making daily investments in the development of a child. It takes a lot of adjusting and the development of a new mindset when you become a mother. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Many of those same qualities that made you so successful in the workforce, will also make you successful as a mother. It is what this site is all about.

Best to you!
