Today my preschool students and I talked about the wind, hail and severe lightning storm we experienced last Thursday. Our conversation brought us to Oregon's biggest wind storm on Columbus Day in 1963. After figuring out that it happened 46 years ago, a very long time, one student mentioned that she wasn't even born yet. "Yes," I replied and explained I was still living in Europe at the time and that I came to the United States in 1971. She thought for a moment and said: "I think that was the time when the dinosaurs still lived on earth."
