Reading your letter, I had to pause for a moment, wipe away a few tears and compose myself. I too was once in your situation, a single parent, raising not one but four children. My life appeared even more hopeless than yours because I was unable to work due to my lack of reading and writing English (English is my second language). With my family living in Europe and no friends, I felt very alone and lost. I found my break by providing daycare for a couple of neighborhood children and in addition to the government support I received, I was able to barely survive.
I remember many nights crying myself to sleep because I did not know how to pay a bill or make my rent payment, let alone the times with no money for birthdays or Christmas. Through all the heartache and sacrifices, I never lost sight of the fact that It was my responsibility to provide shelter, food, clothing and a ton of LOVE to my children and to pave the way for a more secure future for us all. It was not easy. I still look back some times and wonder how I made it through these difficult years.
My children are grown now, all very successful in their own rights. I am a licensed Montessori teacher still enjoying working with children. I love my beautiful home, hobbies, friends and most of all my adorable grandchildren. I am contend and immensely grateful for all that life has graciously given to me.
My advice to you is, no matter how difficult things are right now, NEVER GIVE UP. Look at your options, maybe moving to a different state will offer better opportunities for you and your daughter.
May I send you my best wishes and love for a wonderful, happy and prosperous future.
