Playing with Barbie

ceoMom 650, Yvette

I have heard to outlaw Barbie as part of a girl's playtime is the worst thing possible and will make little girls want to play with Barbie even more. It is encouraged to let girls play with a wide variety of dolls of which Barbie is just one of many. Barbie on her own remains just a doll. It is what we as mothers teach our daughters about what Barbie means that will have an impact on them in the end.

I agree. My girls LOVE Barbie more than any of their other dolls. If you watch any of the Barbie movies, you'll find that Barbie can be a great role model.

Barbie will out-live all the critics and continue to be a companion for children. I believe that the play, not the doll itself is consequently teaching the child.
Thank you for your tip.

I have come to love the Barbie movies! The soundtracks are even very inspiring to kids. My daughters sing on a regular basis: "Believe in all you can be, a miracle starts whenever you dream..."
