My favorite children's book about first day jitters is "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. A little racoon is going to his first day of school and is worried about missing his mom. His mom kisses the palm of his hand and everytime he feels lonely for her, all he has to do is put his hand to his cheek to remember that mommy loves him. At the end of the story, the mom ends up missing her little racoon and puts her hand to her cheek. So sweet. I like reading it and then kissing each other's hands before school!
