My five-year old sometimes gives me a hard time when I try to get her to eat her fruits and veggies. For example, I just cut up some pineapple as part of lunch and she refused to eat it. So I pulled out my iPhone and typed in the health benefits of pineapple. We started discussing the nutritional information:
-- Pineapple is good for bones. It helps build healthy bones and it's really good to eat pineapple when you are young. Pineapples are rich in manganese, a trace mineral that is needed for your body to build bones and connective tissues. Pineapple is also good for colds and coughs. It contains Bromelain, which has been found to help suppress coughs and loosen mucus.
My daughter got excited to know the pineapple would help her build strong bones and immediately started eating it and asked for more. I need to remember to do this more often. Knowledge is key!
