I have found that asking my kids: "How was your day?" or "How was school today?" is not enough. I usually get the "fine" answer. I have to ask specific questions like: "What kind of math did you work on today?" or "Did you read a story, and what was it about?" My kids respond to this and I get all sorts of information! As a matter of fact, it works for my husband too! I just have to dig a little deeper!
