Tip for Relocating - Mommy Groups

Hi Staci! I know how difficult it can be to move away from friends and family to a new place, since I moved from Utah to New Jersey. The best advice I can give you is to join a Mommy group as soon as you get there! Have you ever heard of the website called Meetup.com? I hadn't until I met my friend Alexis (a fellow ceoMom, #265) at my doctor's office and she invited me to be a part of her group.

The site is an excellent resource for people looking to connect with other people in their new area. Go to the site and search for meetup groups in your new place and I'm sure you'll find a mommy playgroup. You might find that most of the women are in the exact same position you're in... it's comforting to find other moms who have just relocated and are dealing with the same things you are.

My meetup group here in NJ is awesome! The organizers schedule outdoor park dates and put them on the calendar for everyone to sign up. Then moms volunteer to host play dates at their homes. They also arrange MNOs so everyone can get together without kids for dinner or a craft night.

I met SO many wonderful people this way and now my kids have friends their same ages. Honestly, my life completely changed once I joined this group. I only wish I'd done it sooner!
