Keeping the Flame Alive

ceoMom 101, Jennifer

A great way to keep the flame alive in a marriage is to go out and try new activities together. I promise your husband might kick and scream, but he'll have fun in the end.

For our ninth wedding anniversary last January, I wanted to do something we had never done before as a couple. I randomly discovered that my husband had never gone ice skating before. This was strange to me, because I thought he had done it all (roller blading, skiing, snow boarding, etc.).

So I planned an entire evening: surprise at work, dinner and then ice skating! I didn't tell him where we were going until we pulled up in front of the building. I think his exact words were: "I'm not going ice skating!" I had to pull him out of the car and drag him in.

But as soon as we were on the ice, the magic happened. He of course was a natural and I looked like Bambi, but we held hands and skated round and round. At one moment we looked at each other with big grins on our faces and decided then and there that we would grow "young" together. All the sparks between us since then have tripled!

What a heart-warming story. How I wish I had your problem.
Thanks for sharing and may the sparks fly forever.
