I have always struggled with being negative, and I may have found a way to beat it. About a year ago, I made a gratitude journal. Every night before I go to sleep (the very last thing), I think about the day and write at least one sentence about something I am grateful for. I have not missed a day in 9 months, and it has really become something I look forward to each night.
I find that during the day I am looking for things I am grateful for, rather than things to complain about. It makes even a bad day seem okay, because there is always one good thing I have noticed. And, it has helped me to notice my small blessings, and not take so much for granted. Now my husband is doing it, too!
