My son is what we would like to call a "pacer." He likes to go at his own pace. When it was taking him a long time to get ready for school, I had to find a way to make it fun rather than a fight or conflict everyday. So we made it a race.
Can you finish your oatmeal before Mommy can brush her teeth and get dressed? Let's see if you can get dressed and comb your hair while Mommy puts your dishes in the dishwasher. Before long, he was saying: "Hurry Mom, I'm beating you!"
Some days I had to hurry to keep up with him! I found it was more fun for both of us and the other kids to have a "race" rather than conflict over every chore, especially when everyone joined in. Good luck!
