The following are family activities that can be used for various age groups:
Science:
Fill several clear plastic containers with 1 to 2 cups of water. Add various shades of food color.
Younger children can pour from one container to the next, helping to develop eye-hand coordination. Older children may use measuring cups and different shaped containers, i.e. round, square, tall, short, learning about volume, measuring in inches and centimeter.
Math:
Purchase 2 or 3 containers of Poker-chips and or play-money in different sizes.
Your possibilities are endless. The very young child will stack, roll, push and count. The older child may pair them by two's, three's and so on, separate them by color, size and count to higher numbers. Don't forget addition and subtraction activities.
Art:
Make a "Trash Monster." Collect as many items as possible throughout your house to create a collage.
Use tongue-depressors or Popsicle sticks. The younger child may just color them, the older child can color and glue them on curd-board or heavy paper, creating beautiful art. The even older child may construct various structures.
I will use my resources and share more activities in the coming weeks.
Enjoy!
