Keep "You" Alive

ceoMom 101, Jennifer

What made you unique before you had children? Maybe you loved to play softball, play board games or go for long sweaty runs. Make sure you keep that part of you alive after you've had children. Making time for your interests and hobbies can be challenging. One ceoMom switched Saturdays with her husband. She and her husband would trade off every other Saturday for four hours. During this time, they could each do whatever they liked or wanted to do with their free time. He typically golfed and she went to her yoga class. Figure a plan, so you can have at least a few hours to maintain the things you love to do (and have a break).

This is one I have to remind myself of often.. I often lose track of who I am.. other than just Mom! Thanks for the great advice, I had read it before but it is nice to have it broken down for me again!

One of the things that defined me, before I got married, was country dancing. I used to go dancing 4 times a week! My hubby doesn't dance...go figure! So, that is a hard one to keep up.
My hubby is good about letting me go work out, or go to book group (of course, that is during the day, so I usually have my kids anyway), but I do get some time for me---Sometimes I just want to be at my own house, all by myself, and bask in the silence...that is a RARE luxury.
