Matching Socks - Fun and Educational

ceoMom 374, Kristina

Keeping up with the matching of the socks has always been a personal challenge for our family. When the kids were big enough to help, I started putting different colored dots on the little toe of each of their socks with a colored sharpy pen. Not a big noticeable dot; just one big enough so the kids could identify their generic white sock from the other kid's.

When we did the laundry, we would spread all of the white socks out on the floor and let them take turns mating their socks. This was good for the big kids, because it was a game and fulfilled one of their chores. It was great for the little kids to help them learn their colors and how to take turns. And it was a "sock out" for Mom. :)

You could also add numbers on the older kids' socks in their same color and play a math game with them to make it more interesting and educational for them.
