Do I Like How It Tastes Yet?

I'm discovering something very simple and profound.

If I want to like something (whole wheat pasta) but I don't yet, I can add it to something I do like (refined pasta). This makes is more bearable. I just keep adding a little more of the something (whole grain pasta) until I am accustomed to it.

I realized that's kind of how life works. If we want to do something such as lose weight, become happier, wash dishes more frequently, learn to sew something new, remove self from bad habits, feel more spiritual, etc., I just have to change it incrementally and suddenly it is what I know and love.

I know it sounds obvious. Today, I made Mac n Cheese and I had mostly whole grain pasta in it. I was surprised to discover that I actually preferred the texture and flavor that way. My simple changes had changed my desire.

That is a great idea. I think all too often that we try to change all at once...cold turkey. That is why we fail. Changes are more positive and permanent when we go "line upon line."

I can SAY that, now I need to apply it.
