Organizing Kid's School Papers and Projects

ceoMom 101, Jennifer

While growing up, I had a very organized mom. She had a storage bin for each of us kids that she would put papers, memories, pictures, trophies, etc. in. Then one day when we were all grown up, she gave us the box. There was no scrambling to gather items - She literally said: "Here's your box" and it seemed my whole life memories were contained in it. I loved it! I still have my box.

I have done the same thing with my girls. I have two storage bins in a lilac color, so I easily know which bins are my girls. When they do a project or a school paper that I want to keep, I scribble their name, age and date on it and throw it (yes, throw it) in the box.

I love the storage bin idea, because I don't have to worry about something being too big for a binder or too fancy to fit in a sleeve (like if they put big puffy cotton balls on it). This is also where I put all the gift cards I kept from when they were born, little mementos and anything like that. Because it's a box, everything fits and it's all in one place.

One day, I'll hand it over and say: "Here's your box!"

I've done the same thing! I started a "memory box" for my daughter when she was born, and have added things to it over the years, i try to keep things that are significant for that area in their lives....glad to see other mom's do the same!

This is perfect! Jaryn has this clunky sock snowman that he made and insists on keeping. Of course that would never fit in a binder. A box is a great idea for everything - papers to 3D items. Thank you!!
