When your child is a pack-rat, teach your child a little bit about business and the cycle of "stuff." Tell her that her clothes and everything she does not fit into or want anymore is going into a garage sale or will be sold on Ebay or Craig's List or some other online "garage sale" type format. Then offer to give her a percentage that you think is appropriate of the sale. Go even further by breaking this percentage down into savings and "fun money" for her to go spend on whatever she would like.
The things that don't sell? Take them, and her with you, to a donation place, like the Salvation Army, to teach her a valuable lesson about all her "stuff." Namely, that there are others out there that don't have as much as she does, and donating is a great way to help everyone out. You could also use it as an opportunity to teach her about the life cycle of things. Buying quality second hand items keeps them out of the landfills.
