For a child all of sudden failing at school, I think he needs professional counseling right away. His failing school is an outward manifestation of something else that must be troubling him. There was a time when we took our daughter to a child psychologist for some troubles she was having and it worked like magic. The psychologist said that, for whatever reason, child counseling works. If for no other reason than it shows the child how much adults care and want to help. The psychologist will know the right questions to ask and more than likely, the child will open up quickly and get to the heart of the problem. Our experience was one week the psychologist met with us and the next week she met with our daughter. She was a bridge to solving (and staving off) problems. Good luck!
