A couple of days ago, I watched the Oprah show. The topic discussed dealt with the burdens, responsibilities and overload of today's mothers and the sometime tragic consequences. It pained me to listen to the story of a mother whose little girl died of a heat stroke while left in the car sleeping for eight hours and other testimonies of frightening circumstances -- all related to what I like to call the "Super Women Syndrome."
These mothers, riddled with guilt, heartbroken and beaten down were branded by their communities as the worst mothers in the world, instead of receiving needed support. Oprah asked a very pertinent question: "Why are mothers so critical of each other?"
Let's think about that and post an answer.
