How to Maintain a Clutter-Free Kitchen

ceoMom 216, Heidi

In order to keep my kitchen counters free from clutter, I use one of the counters as deposit for all the big items (paper towel holder, mixer, coffee machine, can opener, etc.) and one kitchen drawer as the designated place for smaller items(school calendars, papers, school work, pencils, etc.) In addition, all dirty dishes are put in the dishwasher, which helps to keep the sink and counter space clean. Large decorative pitchers or vases are perfect for storing your wooden spoons, chopsticks and spatulas, which frees up drawer space. Also, I systematically weed through my kitchen stuff often. I also use my microwave as a storing place for small baked goods and my oven to store ovenproof dishes such as cookie sheets, skillets and pots and pans. It works really great and my kitchen always looks nice and clean.

The items I leave on my counter are the ones I know are used most often. My toaster is not on the counter, my big mixer is not on the counter. The only item I really have on my counter is a blender. a big container for the wooden spoons, spatulas, etc. and I keep a big bowl of fruit and fresh vegetables sitting on my counter. I like clean counters and room to prepare food.
