Bloom
I recently read a quote from a Native American prayer that says: "Give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way." You have to ponder, at least for a moment, what those blessings could be or will be. And then when you least expect it, a blessing as simple as a flower comes into your life -- and yet it was already planted, already growing. You just didn't realize it.
I woke this morning and peeping out of my blinds, I see the most gorgeous flower. Long strong stem holding a large deep purple flower. How could it have bloomed so fast? Just yesterday I didn't know it was there. A green plant was all that stood. Perhaps if I had paid attention, I may have noticed the bulb with a purple tip, ready to explode into a beauty so vibrant, I could see it across my yard with tired eyes just hours after sunrise.
As I look outside now with the purple flower beaming in the background, I see my two daughters playing in the grass. They've brought out every stuffed animal they own, a couple princess crowns, 10 blankets and when I tell them "that's enough stuff," they jovially explain they need all of it for a "show" they are putting on. They are back there giggling, making growling noises and screaming out load over their conversation. I'm sure they'll settle down long enough to lay on their blankets and watch the clouds roll by.
I can't help to think they are like the purple flower....Strong, beautiful, breathtaking to watch from the distance, wonderment to see up close. And yet, just yesterday they were babies, little bulbs ready to bloom. They are flowering so fast. They are growing before my eyes. The blessings already on their way, are here, right before my eyes.
