My Ramblings.

A journal of thoughts, experiences, trials and joys of being a ceoMom

A walk down memory lane

Tonight I took a walk down memory lane with my boys, ages 4 and 6.  When my son started talking I grabbed a blank journal and recorded cute or funny things that he would say.  I continued this tradition with my second son.  Every once in a while I would have them color a picture or write something important to the day in the book.  We even clipped important firsts such as first family picture or traced their handprints in the book.  Tonight we looked through the book and retold the stories.  We laughed at the funny memories and enjoyed the time remembered.  They were so proud of all their funny stories and antics.  I think this might become their favorite bedtime story.  This is one thing that I am glad that I did right.  I had already forgotten some of the memories (even though I swore I never would) and the pictures will never be duplicated.

This is absolutely fabulous! You should make this a tip as well!! I think this will give so many moms (such as me) some great ideas on how to journal. These memories are so special for children! You are super!

Good for you for doing something I had thought about doing but just never got around to it. I did manage to do scrapbooks, but don't have the day to day stuff that is so precious. We do a short term alternative, my boys like me to tell them a story when I tuck them in, not just any story, it has to be about them, so we recap the day with a few surprises thrown in and they love it.

Connie, that's what I love about you. You have a great grasp of being present and noticing the moments before they escape with your boys. I'm glad I can run around with my head cut off being stressed and occasionally look next door to see what's important.
